The PIEA is a division of the PMA (Photo Marketing Association International® and PMA Services Inc.), a professional trade association self-described as "The Worldwide Community of Imaging Associations."
- Society for Photographic Education (SPE): National Conference 2007, Miami, Florida, U.S.. March 15-18. SPE conferences, regional and national, sometimes include programming relevant to K-12 photo education. (The 2007 conference included a presentation on The New Orleans Kid Camera Project.) The SPE's journal, exposure, has occasionally published articles on this subject.

- Houston Fotofest International/Literacy Through Photography: Fotofest, in Houston, Texas, U.S., has sponsored the Literacy Through Photography program in the Houston public school system. "Fotofence," at Fotofest headquarters May 5-19, displays the results from recent years.

- Visible Rights: Photography by and for Youth: Conference, Harvard University, Cambridge, MA, December 14-15. Part of the Cultural Agents Initiative at Harvard, self-described as "a network of academics, artists, educators, and organizations who develop recognition of the arts as resources for positive change." The "Visible Rights" component thereof is "a series of conferences for international photographer-educators who teach young people to take pictures gives practitioners opportunities to share techniques and best practices that enhance their own work." - Houston Fotofest International/Literacy Through Photography: 12th edition, Houston, Texas, U.S., March 7-April 20, 2008. Fotofest has sponsored the Literacy Through Photography program in the Houston public school system. The biennial festival sometimes includes a display of the results from the previous two years.Other shows sometimes feature work by children.
